We are fundraising to give little hearts a BIG chance!
The HEARTest Yard, established in 2013, is the first and only family support and service program for pediatric cardiovascular patients and their families in the Carolinas. The HEARTest Yard, a program under Receptions for Research: The Greg Olsen Foundation, supports families of children with congenital heart disease with in-home nursing care and comprehensive medical services at The HEARTest Yard Congenital Heart Center.
Our goal: A happier, healthier future for heart kids.
"We want the entire Olsen family to know that we will always shout from the rooftops about the compassion of The HEARTest Yard – they are true heroes to share their personal journey with the world. We feel like we joined a terrible club when we found out about Asher’s CHD [congenital heart defect], but the community and the heart of this organization have provided support when we have needed it most. We are one of so many families that have found comfort in their story and are indebted to them for the spotlight they are shining on congenital heart defects." - The Harvey family
Why Your Help Matters
- 9 in 1,000 babies in the U.S. are born with a congenital heart defect.
- Over 1 million children and 1.4 million adults in the U.S. are living with CHD.
- In Mecklenburg County, about 130 babies are born with a CHD each year.
Families face not only the emotional toll of CHD but also significant financial burdens. Your generosity eases that burden—and saves lives.
Every Dollar Counts:
Your contribution—no matter the size—makes a life-saving difference for children and adults living with congenital heart disease. Here's how your generosity can help:
- $5 Helps cover the cost of surgical supplies during a life-saving heart transplant for a congenital heart patient in our community.
- $50 covers the cost of an hour of in-home private nursing care for a congenital heart baby after open-heart surgery.
- $90 Funds a vital physical or speech therapy session for a heart patient, services often paid out of pocket.
- $100 covers the cost of two hours of in-home private nursing care for a congenital heart baby after open-heart surgery
- $250 Supports 5 hours of life-saving, in-home private nursing care for a patient recovering from complex heart surgery.
